What’s the appeal of pulling an all-nighter at Cimpress, you might ask? Aside from the free food and camaraderie, a $20,000 prize is pretty appealing.

Earlier this month, Cimpress hosted a 24 hour coding marathon challenging team members to build solutions to real-life customer pain points, and to increase the number of APIs on our new Cimpress Open portal (which is still in beta).

Up all night

Teams worked through the night to create game-changing solutions. And when the sun rose and teams presented their work, the results were astounding.

“It was amazing to see how much could be accomplished in a short amount of time, when talented teams are given the space to focus and innovate,” remarked Jeremy Pallai, Senior Director of New Business Models and Hackathon judge. “In this first Hackathon, I think we’ve only scratched the surface of how APIs can be leveraged to add incredible value to merchants and customers. I can’t wait to see where this goes in the months and years to come.”

“The Hackathon was a great experience to do something you have never done before and expand your horizons.  It was one of the best learning experiences I have had here!” shared Charlie, a Software Engineer on Team Your Reckless Flock of Print Delivery Whisperers.

“We all had a lot of fun working together and competing with each other. It’s really cool to see the company innovating in this way and I can’t wait for the next hackathon!” said Christina, a software engineer on Team bannAR.

While all the work was outstanding, there were six winners overall. But we hope the biggest winners will be our customers.
